Abstract

One of the important goals in learning literature is character building. This study aims to describe the literature learning strategy in supporting the strengthening of patriotic values ​​in character education. The subjects were high school teachers and students in Surakarta. Data were collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The analysis used qualitative descriptive techniques. The results are that: 1. Literature learning in schools is carried out with a strategy of appreciation and critical guidance, through a scientific approach. 2. The materials used are literary novels that have been filmed (ecranization). Such as "Laskar Pelangi", "Dilan", "Harry Potter", "Dealova", and "Dear Nathan". 3. Various virtues are taught comprehensively to strengthen patriotic values ​​in shaping students' character.
